Liverpool Mercantile Maritime City World Heritage Site Management Plan
The Liverpool Wold Heritage Site Management Plan (currently draft) is another flagship example of our collaborative cross-sector approach to sustainable heritage management. The plan seeks to unite strong desires to develop the city with requirements to protect and conserve the incredible cultural heritage for which Liverpool is has become renowned.
Leaders in retail, governance, museums and attractions as well as representatives of the local community were engaged from the outset. A new pragmatic and forward looking framework will help release the potential of its World Heritage Site through constructive conservation and heritage-led regenerations. Improved planning controls provide a more transparent robust management system and greater opportunities for local communities to engage with their heritage. The plan seeks to ensure that the Liverpool Mercantile Maritime City has the best chance of retaining its world Heritage site status whilst delivering the growth the it needs.
