Peak District National Park Historic Farmsteads Project
Locus Consulting have developed and delivered a number of resources to support the conservation and redevelopment of traditional farm buildings in the Peak District National Park.
The Historic England commissioned project, led by the Peak District National Park Authority has created a suite of design and conservation guidance for the redevelopment of traditional farm buildings across the area’s highly distinct and valued landscapes. The guidance package is development-led, seeking to secure new future uses for redundant buildings. For use by both planning officers and developers, it promotes a transparent and shared approach to the sustainable development of historic farm buildings.
The project also worked to enhance access to existing evidence bases for historic farmsteads, which record the character and survival of thousands of farmsteads, outfarms and field barns across the area.
Locus Consulting has also delivered similar products for the counties of Lincolnshire and East Sussex, as part of Historic England’s national programme to support conservation and redevelopment of historic rural buildings.
