Historic England Essentials Programme
The ‘Essentials’ Programme is a three year training initiative, funded by Historic England, which recognises the importance of increasing awareness of heritage issues amongst those making planning decisions at a high-level.
The programme of events will develop knowledge and skills of non-heritage professional and career entry heritage professionals in local authorities about core heritage principles and practices, including legislation and policy, the setting of heritage assets, constructive conservation, heritage information resources and the historic environment’s value and significance.
Over the course of the programme we will deliver over 1400 free training places to planning and development professionals and 230 places for the training of Historic England staff. The programme will be rolled out alongside the development of a series of online training resource.
